Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu(1300m)

Upon your arrival in the Kathmandu airport (TIA), you will be greeted by a representative of Sisne Rover Trekking. After completing your custom formalities (Visa, etc). You will be then transferred to your hotel. Welcome drink will be served. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 02:Kathmandu - Trek preparation and Free Time

  

On your first day in Kathmandu, we take rest after a long flight from your home country. After breakfast, you can visit around Thamel (where your hotel will be located) and shop few items that you have missed to bring with you. We can add Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing tour on your request. We can have a tour to UNESCO World heritage sites – Durbar Square, Pashupatinath temple, Swayambhunath stupa and Bouddhanath stupa. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Drive to Pokhara: 6-7 hours

We take Tourist Bus to Pokhara in the morning. Visit Sisne’s office to have acquainted with the guide and other trekking staff. Overnight in Pokhara

Day 04:Pokhara - Ulleri ( 2025m.)

  

From Pokhara, we drive an hour to Naya Pul and start the trek. We walk through a valley forest, cross the Bhurundi Khola (river) before reaching Tikhedhunga Village. The Ulleri Hill with thousands of steps and boulders that continually go upward will really prove a test of our stamina. We reach Ulleri by late afternoon. Overnight in Ulleri.

Day 05:Ulleri to Ghorepani (2,750 m): 4 - 5 hrs

After breakfast, we ascend to the Ghorepani village via stone stairs. As we are ascending we admire the spectacular scenery as Annapurna South looms large, coming and going from our view.  We pass waterfalls, tiny villages, and several tea-houses before reaching Ghorepani. We stop at the higher part of the Ghorepani village that offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains including Annapurna South and Nilgiri mountains. The village has small shops that sell local products such as handbags and crafts. Overnight in Ghorepani.

Day 6: Ghorepani to Tatopani (1,190m ): 5-6 hrs

We wake up early in the morning to reach Poon Hill just in time to see the sunrise over the Himalayas. Poon Hill is the most popular destination to enjoy close up views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges and enjoy the sunrise from these majestic mountains. After enjoying a cup of coffee, we descend back to Ghorepani. After breakfast, we descend steeply to Sikha, a large village & further descend to Ghar Khola Village. After crossing suspension bridge the trail head up to Tatopani. Tatopani (hot spring) is popular among the trekker to sooth their tired leg muscles.

Day 07: Tatopani to Ghasa (2,110m): 5-6 hrs

The trail now follows the Kali Gandaki river flows under the deep gorge by 2200m in between two 8000m mountaintops are only 38km apart. Continuing along to Dana, Rupse Chahara meaning beautiful waterfall and Kopchepani, the trail further ascends to the Thakali village Ghasa. Ghasa is a paradise for the bird watchers.

Day 08: Ghasa to Marpha (2,680m): 5 - 6hrs

A steep climb through forest takes you to Lete Khola then reach to Lete. It further continues to the east side of the Kaligandaki reach you Larjung Village. From Larjung, we cross trail via Tukche at 2590m and apple farm projects which produces apple and vegetable for the whole region until you get to Marpha Village.

Day 09: Marpha to Kagbeni (2,810): 5 -6 hrs

The trail continues along the valley side, rising gradually before crossing over a low ridge to Jomsom Village. Cross the Panga Khola to reach Ekle Bhatti meaning lonely pub. From Jomsom onwards it is very windy in the afternoon and the trek continues on the gradual path on the Kali Gandaki river bed for about 3 hrs and finally reaching at Ekley-bhatti village. After a good stop here an hour of easy walk takes us to Kagbeni, which lies at the bank of two rivers. Kagbeni is an interesting windswept villages situated on the main age old Trans himalayan salt trade route to Tibet via Upper Mustang area.

Day 10: Kagbeni to Muktinath (3,800m): 3 -4 hrs

Our journey starts with a special permit check up and onwards to the riverbank of Kaligandaki up stream. During the walk we will have scenic picturesque places to stop by. From Kagbeni the path climbs steeply to re-join the direct trail leading to Khingar at 3200m. The trail climbs through a desert landscape till Jharkot Village. A further climb reaches us to Muktinath.

Day 11: Muktinath to Jomsom (2,715m): 5-6 hrs

Muktinath is one of most important destination for Hindus pilgrimage. It also hold an important place for the Buddhists. In the morning, we visit the Muktinath Temple of the Lord Vishnu. For the Hindus, the region is a “Muktikhsetra”or the region of liberation or salvation. There are water spouts channeled for the stream running above the temple. There is also a Buddhist Monastery nearby. Also enjoy the magnificent views of Dhaulagiri peak from Muktinath. Muktinath itself demonstrates the religions harmony in Nepal. From Muktinath, we continue back to Jomsom.

Day 12: Jomsom to Pokhara by flight

We will take the earliest flight from Jomsom to Pokhara. It is a 30-minutes dramatic flight  between the gorge of  two huge mountains – Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. On arrival at Pokhara airport, we will be transferred to the hotel in Pokhara.

We mark the end of our successful trip with a farewell dinner hosted by Sisne Rover where we can share our experiences of the trek before leaving Pokhara. The dinner will be accompanied by Live Nepalese Cultural show with Dance and Songs of Nepal. Overnight in Pokhara.

Day 13: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu: 6-7 hours

We drive to Kathmandu in the morning by tourist bus. After arriving in Kathmandu, we leave for our hotel. We enjoy the day leisurely or catch up on some last minute shopping or explore any landmarks we missed during our first day in Kathmandu. . Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 14: Final departure

Our journey in Nepal comes to an end today. A representative of Sisne Rover will drop us off at the airport approximately 3 hours before our scheduled flight. On our way home, we have plenty of time to plan our next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.

Jomsom – Muktinath is one of the most popular treks in Nepal. This trek offers the greatest cultural diversity that could not find in any part of Nepal. Along this scenic route you will pass through villages inhabited by different ethnic groups such as Thakali, Gurung, and Magar and in higher elevation the Tibetan culture is predominant. Here you may visit several authentic Tibetan Monasteries. The trail follows up the Kali Gandaki Valley, one of the deepest gorges in the world, between the soaring peaks of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. The high point of the trek is at the Holy Temple of Muktinath 3800m which affords spectacular views. The walking trail is a gentle slope making this a relatively easy trek that can be completed all year round.

This region has also gained popularity of having Buddhist influence culture & old monasteries. Muktinath is one of the salvation points for Hindus. Hindu must have to visit once on their life so a lot of Hindus pilgrims visit that holy side round the year.

Important Note: 

Your safety is of paramount concern while traveling with Sisne Rover. Please note that your leader has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is necessary due to safety concerns. Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary; however, since this adventure entails traveling in remote mountainous regions, we cannot guarantee that we will not deviate from it. Weather conditions, health condition of a group member, unexpected natural disasters, etc., can all contribute to changes in the itinerary. The leader will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if required.

Accommodations 

We will be staying in hotel/resort in Kathmandu/ Pokhara and teahouses during the trek. All accommodations are on twin-shared basis. Single supplement is served on request with additional cost. We will have rooms with attached washrooms in most parts of the trek but this is not possible in a few remote locations. Also understand that single rooms are not easily available in higher elevations like they are in Kathmandu and the lower elevation regions.

Meals 

During the trek, we provide all meals whereas only breakfast will be available in Kathmandu and Pokhara. There will also be welcome or farewell dinners for guests. The most common cuisines in most menus are Nepalese, Tibetan, Indian and common continental.

The most significant thing that makes this trek successful, enjoyable and memorable is the skilled, experienced and helpful trek leader and crew members with the ability of operating our days in the mountain smoothly. We have the best and professional trekking leaders selected on the basis of their experiences, leadership skills and personal aptitude. With an objective of sustaining local communities, Sisne only employs local staff. They have adequate knowledge about culture, ecosystem, flora, fauna, geography, and history of their local region.

Porter Care 

Sisne Rover is firmly committed to porter rights. We make sure that all our porters are well treated and well paid. Furthermore, we also provide the required level of shelter, clothing and footwear that these harsh environments demand. Porters get equal treatment and attention like every other team members in case they get sick. We have contract with helicopter emergency evacuation company to rescue porters from dangerous situations. And for the porter’s sake, all trekkers keep the weight of their luggage under 15kgs/33 pounds. We also support the work of International Porter Protection Group (IPPG), making our resources available to them to help improve the working conditions of the porters.

Environmental Concerns 

Jomsom-Mukhtinath route is strikingly beautiful, but also equally fragile. Future generations have just as much of a right to appreciate it as we do and so the tourism industry has an obligation to protect and preserve it. We employ a ‘zero impact’ policy on the natural environment and the traditional communities that live there. Sisne Rover, therefore, enforces a number of do’s and don’ts. Our experienced staff can advise us on how to minimize our impact on the local environment.

Acclimatization 

Like all other itineraries, this trek can also curb Acute Mountain Sickness which is very common during high altitude trekking. We ascend gradually so that we have optimum time to acclimatize to the high-altitude environment. Consult your doctors if you have any known heart, lung or blood diseases before booking the trek.

Physical Condition & Experience Requirements 

It is a moderate trek suitable for trekkers without technical skills who can walk at least 6-7 hours a day with a light backpack. Anyone who is physically fit with good health can participate in this trek. However, it is always best to start jogging and exercising regularly at least a month before the actual trek. Also, trekkers with high altitude trekking experience can find this trek relatively easier than others.

Best Time to Travel

Autumn (Sept. to Nov.) and spring (March to May) are the best seasons for this trek. The weather is sunny and warm with outstanding views. If you wish to avoid crowds and enjoy some alone time with nature, then taking this trip during winter (Dec., Jan., Feb.) could also be an option.

What to bring

Nepal is a mountainous tropical country, which means there are climate extremes. Night and day temperature differences can vary between -10°C on the high treks and 30°C on the lower ones (14°F to 86°F), so you need to bring a variety of clothes.

This list is a guideline to help you pack for your adventure. Also understand that the items listed below will vary a little according to the season and the trek duration. The weight limit for your luggage is 33 pounds or 15 kg. Remember that your luggage will be carried by your trekking but you are required to carry a day-pack (with your valuables or anything important) on your own. We also suggest that you pack only what is necessary.

  • Separate photocopies of passport, visa form (easily obtained at Kathmandu airport), proof of insurance
