Bardiya National Park

Bardiya National Park is equally rich in biodiversity and is less populated than Chitwan National Park. This protected area extending over 968 sq. km is a dreamland for wildlife enthusiasts and the favorable habitat of the Royal Bengal Tigers. Tracking and watching the majestic endangered creature has become one of the popular activities in this national park. Besides tigers, other rare and endangered animals like the one-horned rhinos and Asian elephants also reside in the jungles of Bardia. Similarly, more than 438 species of resident and migratory birds hover around the forests, grasslands, and river banks. While the Gharial crocodiles, river dolphins, and 125 species of fish are found in Karnali and Babai Rivers nearby. Best Time to Visit Bardiya

Bardiya National Park is open throughout the year. But, the best time to visit at the end of dry season and beginning of the hot season which is from February to June. At this time, we will have higher chances of seeing tigers and rhinos near the water holes.

Jungle Walk

Getting close to nature, knowing about flora and fauna is the best thing you can get in a jungle walk of Bardiya. The best time to view the wildlife is either in the morning or in the evening. However, it depends upon animal themselves whether they will show up or not but in season we can encounter different species of birds and animal in Bardiya during our jungle walk.

Jeep Safari

Experiencing the off-road drive is another way to explore the view of Bardiya and its wildlife. The fastest way to explore the beauty and wildlife of Bardiya Nationa Park is through the Jeep Safari, it allows you to visit the core and corner of the jungle in a short span of time which indeed will be one of the best experiences you can ever have in Bardiya.

Fishing Tour

The Karnali River is one of the longest and largest river of mid-west Nepal, where you can find a habitat of many fish. In Bardiya, the most sought after sport fish in these rivers is called “The Himalayan Mahseer”, a species not a lot of people are familiar with. The best time suitable for fishing in Bardiya is between October to April.

Bird Watching Tour

Nepal is blessed with a vast array of exceptionally rich bird life. A diverse topography and climate has resulted in a variety of habitats within the country, which are home to over 10% of the Worldstotal bird population. .Bird watching in Bardiya can be done by walking around the community forest, river habitats and open areas.

Karnali River Rafting

About 30km drive from Thakurdwara, Bardiya will take you to the Karnali river, which is known for its large volume of water inhabited by the critically endangered Gangetic dolphins, soft-shelled turtles and Masheer fish, the gharial crocodile and many more. It is also known as one of the finest big volume rafting and kayaking trips in Nepal-spectacular.

First Day

• Welcome and greetings at the hotel and serve welcome drinks, quick check-in form and program information session.
• Tharu Village evening orientation walks through elephant grassland and farming lands with the local guide and sit together for a cup of black tea with the family in the village. Way back, amazing sunset & jungle views.
• Evening Tharu Culture Program that represents Festivals and Ceremonies of Chitwan through dances.
• Dinner back in the lodge.

Second Day 

• Wake-up call by our team if required, tea or coffee in the restaurant.
• Half day jungles walk for exploring the rich diversity of the jungle, grasslands and rivers. This is the best way to see wildlife and nature close up. Your guide can give you in-depth information on the habitats you pass through, details of the plant and animal life you encounter and will brief you on general tracking tips.
• Lunch in the Jungle in a proper place.
• Continue for another half day walking for the exploration of Tiger territory till the end of day.
• Walk back to the hotel.

Third Day 

• Early breakfast.
• Full day Jeep safari with packed lunch (min. 4 persons in a group joining).This is the fastest way to explore the park, allowing you to journey deep into the jungle.
• Optional program – Rafting (min. 4 persons in a group).
• Early breakfast.
• Drive 30 km by jeep to Karnali River. Drifting down the river allows you to spot wildlife, especially the endangered freshwater Gangetic dolphin, the gharial crocodile, exotic birds and big game on the nearby river banks. Swimming is also possible and sometimes the dolphins may join with you.
• Overnight in the hotel.

Fourth Day

• Early wake up and join in the bird watching trip . Explore the community forest, river habitats and open water areas to see the wide range of varieties of birds. Bird watching is best done on foot for the least disturbance, During the months of September, November, February and April, migratory birds arrive to augment then number of residential birds giving birdwatchers a great opportunity to enjoy their sport.
• Lunch.
• Transfer to Nepalgunj Airport or onward destination.

What to Bring

• Neutral colored clothing is recommended. 
• Light clothing is needed for the daytime with a sweater and warm jacket for the evenings from November to March. 
• Long Pants ad Trousers for safari and jungle walks.
• Comfortable walking shoes, sun hats, sunglasses, etc. are essential.
• Insect repellent and personal medical requirements should be carried out. 
• Swim suits during the warmer months.
• A small flashlight.
• Binoculars add greatly to your enjoyment of bird and wildlife viewing.
