Clearly, they are also an adventurer’s dream, and we can always find hopeful trekkers and mountaineers waiting to scale the tall peaks. Some feisty tourists may not have the time to spare as well. This is where hikes come in! Hikes are comfortable walking or climbing trips, usually ending in a day or two. If you’re in Kathmandu for a short while but still want to get a whiff of pristine mountain air, a hike is your best bet – they’re cheap, noteworthy, and gorgeous and do wonders for your health as well.
Hiking around Kathmandu offers an opportunity to see fantastic mountain views and explore Nepalese countryside without going too far and without climbing high. Besides that we do not have to lose the comfort of the city while doing these hikes.
The Kathmandu valley offers plenty of hiking routes and day trips. These hikes generally take 4 to 6 hours of walking to arrive at the destinations. We can either return the same day or stay overnight. The trails pass through the sub-alpine forests and the rural countryside witnessing the amazing Nepalese typical culture and their lifestyle.
Trip Overview
Champa Devi Hiking is one of the famous hiking trips around Kathmandu Valley located at an altitude of 2278m.in the south east of Kathmandu and it is the third highest hill around Kathmandu valley. The hiking provides the amazing view of Mt. Everest, Ganesh Himal, Annapurna, Langtang, Gaurishanker ranges and the surrounding valley including Kathmandu, Bahktapur and Patan.
The added attraction of this trip is to have the opportunity to observe the famous Bagmati river, Bugmati, Khokana and Pharping which are the historical places of Nepal. We can also see Fulchoki hill on your right and the Chandra Giri which is highest hill around Kathmandu Valley on our left.
Champa Devi Hiking is best for those who have limited time to spend in Nepal and wants to see the whole Kathmandu valley with panoramic view of many beautiful mountains. Hiking in remote high lands near Kathmandu is really a delightful experience that makes this trip unforgettable.
The hike starts northwest from Bhanjyang near Khahare Bus Park (a short distance from Taudaha) after an hour drive from Thamel Kathmandu. The trail commences through asphalt roads accompanying with the view of Kathmandu valley. After half an hour walk we reach to Hattiban Resort and then the trail keeps up ascending through a dense pine forest with stunning views and small settlements for 3 hours to reach at the top of Champa Devi where we can see the open shrine of Chanpa Devi and a Buddhist monastery.
Engage in photography, or simply dissolve in the natural serenity once you accomplish the hike. After having rest with our packed lunch, we retrace back to Khahare by the same trail and drive back to our hotel in Kathmandu.

- 07:00 am: Pick up from the hotel in Kathmandu and drive 45 minutes to Khahare, a short drive after Taudaha.
- 08:00 am: Hike half an hour to Hattiban Resort on an asphalt roads and continues hiking for 3 hours through dense pine forest with stunning views and small settlements. Reach to the top of Champa Devi (2249m.).
- 11.30 am: Lunch at Champa Devi and explore the Champa Devi Temple and the Monastery with the picturesque snow-capped Himalayan range and the surrounding valley. Engage in photography, or simply dissolve in the natural serenity once you accomplish the hike.
- 13.00 pm: Hike down through crossing green farm lands, forest and small villages and we reach to Pharping by the end of 3 O‘clock.
- 16:00 pm: After exploring the Pharping – a small town, we will take bus drive to Kathmandu.
- 17.00pm: Reach hotel.
