Annapurna Base Camp Trek
This trek is a spectacular journey on foot to the South Face of Annapurna I – a classic walk through the diverse Nepalese landscape and its culture. This popular trek ascends through picturesque villages to the center of the Annapurna range offering dramatic mountain scenery. Standing in the middle of the Sanctuary, surrounded by towering snowy peaks ranging between 6000-8000m, is a truly awe-inspiring experience. The Sanctuary trek is perhaps one of the more challenging of the teahouse treks. If you allow the time to ascend at your own pace this trek is open to the moderately fit A minimum of 9 days from Pokhara should be allowed to complete this trek with extra days for exploring the Base Camp and for alternative routes down, for example via the Hot Springs of Tatopani.
On your 15-day journey you will reach the base camp of the world’s 10th highest mountain, Annapurna (8,091m); visit some UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu &Bhaktapur, relaxing in the beauty of Pokhara, enjoy breathtaking Himalayan vistas during the trek and experience the sunrise over the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges .

Trek Itinerary
Day 01. Drive from Pokhara (823 m) to Shyaulibazaar and Trek to Kotdanda (2,344 m) via Ghandruk (1,940 m): ( 4-5 Hrs.)
After breakfast in Pokhara, we will drive approx. 2 hours to Shyaulibazaar by Jeep and hike an hour to Ghandruk. Ghandruk, a beautiful village mostly inhabited by the Gurung community. Along with enjoying the stunningly close-up towering views of Fishtail, Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli mountains, we also acquaint ourselves with the simple but rich cultural traditions of the Gurung people at the Gurung Museum in Ghandruk. After exploring Ghandruk village and having lunch in Ghandruk , we continue our trek to Kotdanda for another one and half an hour. Overnight in a lodge.

Day 02. Trek from Kotdanda to Chhomrong (2,170 m): (4-5 Hrs.)
We step up for around an hour up to Kimrungdanda. On the way, we can enjoy great views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Fishtail Mountain (Machhapuchhre) and Ganggapurna. A steep descent takes us to the Kimrong Khola. After another steep ascent from Kimrong Khola to Chere Danda, we descend for a while and then it’s a gentle walk to Chhomrong. Chhomrong is a beautiful village located on the lap of the giant Annapurna massive. Overnight in the lodge.

Day 03. Trek from Chhomrong to Bamboo (2,310 m): (4-5 Hrs.)
We descend via 2500 stone steps and cross the bridge above Chhomrong Khola. From here it is an uphill climb to Sinuwa. Next, we pass through a beautiful forest to Kuldihar followed by an easy downhill walk to Bamboo. Overnight in the lodge

Day 04. Trek from Bamboo to Deurali (3,230 m): (4-5 Hrs.)
We pass through a bamboo forest which is damp and cold then ascend steadily with a few steep sections. It is only after reaching the Himalaya Hotel that the forest opens up and we are out in the sun again with astounding views of the glacial river below. It is a steep climb up through a much drier forest before reaching Hinku Cave. From here we can see the trail drop closer to the river before ascending again to Deurali, the most scenic stretch of the day. The vegetation is sparser, allowing magical views of the valley, the river below, and the sheer rock-face cliffs above with bands of wispy waterfalls. Overnight in the lodge.

Day 05. Trek from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m) via Machhapuchre Base Camp: (5-6 Hrs.)
Climb gently through a river bed then over a steep trail over to the mountain side. The hike from Bagar to Machhapuchhre Base Camp is somewhat strenuous. From Machhapuchhre base camp we get excellent views of the majestic snow capped mountains. The vegetation disappears on our way to ABC and the path widens as we enter the Annapurna sanctuary. From here, we get sensational views of the near-vertical south face of Annapurna towering above us. The sanctuary boasts of a dynamic view without anything impeding the 360-degree panorama. From the base camp we again get to savor mesmerizing views of the Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli and other peaks. Overnight in the lodge.

Day 06. Trek from Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo (2,310 m): (7-8 Hrs.)
We retrace our steps down hill to Bamboo. So it shouldn’t be very difficult. Besides, we will always have the company of the extraordinary landscape to cheer us up. Overnight in the lodge.

Day 07. Trek from Bamboo to Jhinu Danda (1,760m): (5-6 Hrs.)
From Bamboo, it is an uphill trek to Kuldighar followed by a downhill walk to Chhomrong Khola. Then we climb the stone steps to Chhomrong. The trail then descends to Jhinu Danda, where we will be resting for the night. Today we will have an opportunity to enjoy the hot springs which is just a 20 minute downhill walk from Jhinu Danda to soothe our aching body. Overnight in the lodge.

Day 08. Trek from Jhinu to Landruk (1,650 m): (4-5 Hrs.)
The trail from Jhinu gradually descends till the new bridge then gradually ascends through villages and forest. Today’s walk is relatively easy, along ridge lines with some flats, gentle climbs. Upon reaching Landruk, you will rest, learn about the village and marvel at this impressive scenery. Landruk lies within the Annapurna Conservation Area and is a visual highlight of the trek. It is also home to the famous Honey Hunting Festival, where honey harvesters climb bamboo ladders and hang precariously over cliffs from ropes to gather honeycomb from the cliff faces. Overnight in the lodge.

Day 09. Trek from Landruk to Kande/Phedi (1,130 m): (3-4 Hrs.) and Drive to Pokhara (1 Hr.)
After breakfast, we will gradually ascend to Pothana via Tolka and then descend to Kande or Phedi from where we will meet our car. During the period of trekking, we will have a better opportunity to view the mountain views, landscapes, villages and the view of Pokhara.

To celebrate the successful completion of our journey, we will have farewell dinner and share the experiences about our trek.
