Langtang Trek 7D

Langtang, meaning “The living earth”, unfolds a tale of discovery by a Lama tracing a runaway Yak, embodying “Lang” in Tibetan for Yak and “Tang” for follow. Nestled south of the Tibetan border, it’s a narrow valley embraced by the Himalayas to the north and lower snow-clad peaks to the south. Inhabited by Tibetan Buddhists, it’s a realm of high isolation and spiritual resonance.

Description

Lang tang… “The living earth”

According to legend, the Lang tang valley was discovered by a Lama following runway Yak, hence the name “Lang” is Yak for Tibetan and “Tang” means to follow. Lang tang is a narrow valley, that lies just south of Tibet boarder, sandwiched between main Himalayan range to the northern and a slightly lower range of snow clad peaks to the south. People of Tibetan origin
who practice Buddhism, habituate in this high and isolated region.

The Langtang trek is one of the shorter hiking routes in Nepal. It offers fantastic scenery from the jungle with banana trees and monkeys at lower altitudes to glaciers and ice peaks at higher elevations. Short doesn’t mean easy, the route is quite challenging from the beginning with many long and steep ascents which is a typical thing for trekking in Nepal.

The attraction of the Lang tang region is that it’s so close to Kathmandu and yet it is as wild as any Tibetan highlands. Lang tang region is also famous for its Gosaikunda Lake and Helambu. Moreover, the company of green rhododendron and bamboo forests, majestic waterfalls, and snow-capped Himalayas make the trek one of most diverse treks in Nepal.
